Park Blvd Manor
Client: Satellite Housing, Inc (now SAHA)
Architect: Anne Phillips Architecture
This rehabilitation of an affordable senior housing building built in the 1960’s was part of a complete makeover of a tax credit financed group of five buildings located in Oakland and Berkeley. BBI Construction was one of two partners in a joint venture named Rehabilitation Housing Group that managed the 23 million dollar program. BBI Construction completed three of the five buildings.
This 42 unit building was occupied during all of the construction. The scope of the work included seismic upgrading to a PML of less than 20, upgrading of ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems, new windows, lobbies, elevator upgrades and exterior waterproofing. The community room was expanded and the entire building had a decorative makeover, inside and out.
The financing required completion during a fixed period and the multiple site management created challenges for the entire architectural and contruction team.
